Poss tmi warning - DH has worm in leg

sphil · 09/07/2008 22:09

Dh has just returned from the Gambia with what he thought was an insect bite on his leg. Over the last week it has got bigger and yesterday a small white worm popped out of it (where's the yuk emoticon when you need it?) Went to GP who admitted she didn't know what to do and has referred him to dermatologist at hospital on Friday.

Has anyone heard of this - googling only produces 'guinea worm disease' which causes severe pain, and he says it's just a bit uncomfortable. Dh wants to know what the treatment will be (altho I think he has an idea...) and whether he'll have to take antibiotics.

Yeah, this one and the rat under a bucket from last week. And the fiance dressed as an elf, who crapped himself at his stag do. Anyway, thanks Sphil, and Mr Sphil take a bow.

Mr and Mrs Sphil say you're welcome.

Did you know the RAF medical badge is of 2 worms being wound around a stick. I only know this as Dad used to be in RAF and obviously so disturbing I have remembered.google RAF medical badge!

Ladythompson. Good idea with the gloves etc! I am virtually OCD anyway, my friends take the mick out of me for my clean house, that is why I was so shocked when DS got threadworm, not from my bloody house he didn't! Probably some from some school kid who doesn't wash his hands when he has been for a poo!

This is an ACE thread! I even emailed my best mate last night with the link, knowing full well she would look at the pictures (when she visited me after DS was born she immediately wanted to see my cs scar).
Anyway Kerrymum - what was it between her legs - was it alive? Was it a beaver?

MumtoH · 11/07/2008 22:12

OMG - posted before I saw Kerrymum reply.
Sounds like a freaky horror film...
What happened - did they pull it out?
Yeuch.

shirleyghostman · 11/07/2008 22:26

OMG kerrymum now that has scared the living shit out of me! I cannot even imagine what the fuck I would do if I came face to face with one of them dangling from me. Christ it has sent the heebeejeebees up me now.

lol at 'poss' in thread title.
i looked at all the links.
but then, i made flame watch loads of youtube videos of spot squeezing and pus drainings the other day, following cods spot thread. im pretty fucking gross tbh.

bikermom · 11/07/2008 23:18

Are you sharing a bed????

bikermom · 11/07/2008 23:19

Sorry I missed the other 7 pages of this thread ...

198 · 12/07/2008 15:55

I saw it on bizarre ER. Aparrently the worm needs the little hole on top to breathe through. The doctor at the hospital for tropical medicine just put really thick vaseline over the breathing hole and left it until the worm died, then just hooked it out - gross!!!

fizzbuzz · 12/07/2008 17:28

Kerrymum, I have just physically retched reading that.

I presume it was hanging out of her bum???
Did they pull it out? Oh I can't carry on, I have to go and recover somewhere, this is making me ill.........

Where is the vom emoticon?

fizzbuzz · 12/07/2008 17:39

Please please please tell me it is only possible to catch tapeworms from uncooked pork and no one does any more.

Please someone........please.

I am absolutely phobic about worms, swear I can feel something moving round my bum now..

Oh God this is so awful

When I was a student, my friend went on a college trip to Paris. One of them went to the toilet and found a long worm.....then they found one in the bed.....and they were sharing beds a was cheapo student trip. I still haven't recovered from that tale, my flesh crawls everytime I think of that story, but yours Kerrymum is possibly the worse thing I have ever heard.

I feel all icky now.........Help.

Sim43 · 12/07/2008 18:11

Oh no please don't start talking about tapeworm, it was bad enough with the worm in leg. Having just got rid of threadworm from DS have had enough of the little blighters! Fortunately I didn't get it, if had would have gone to hospital and demanded they remove bottom altogether........it would be a bumotomy perhaps....

How an earth do you get it from uncooked Pork?? are there worms in pork? how does it turn into worms in stomach?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 12/07/2008 18:14

[uncovers eyes]

cornsilk · 12/07/2008 18:17

I'm getting a strange urge to google tapeworms. But I won't.

noddyholder · 12/07/2008 18:22

Look supermodels swallow them to stay thin and then give them to each other when they come out their bums.Tis all the rage.......

Sim43 · 12/07/2008 18:35

noddyholder, please tell me you fecking joking!!
