EEK! Raised liver enzymes on blood test!

Doc wants to re-check then maybe a scan. Anyone had this - what did it turn out to be?

I am overweight but rarely drink alcohol and my blood sugar, cholestorol etc are all fine.

Do you take any regular medication or have you been on any recently?Mine were raiswed once and it turned out to be an anti biotic i was on

DH has this. He ended up having a liver biopsy and it all turned out fine. Aparently he has a "fatty liver" (he is slightly over weight). They were concerned because of the medication he was taking for his psoriasis/psoriatic athrits, but it is just the way he is.

No medication - could be fatty liver though as I am fatty everywhere else!

actually quite surprised that my other stats were good.

Blood sugar - normal (not sure of exact number)
Cholestorol - 3.7 (good for a fat lass!)
Blood pressure 130/70 - good considering we were running late for school this morning

I said "occasionally - maybe once a month"

Maybe I should have mentioned the fact that I drank a lot more than that when I was younger

I had this (also ex drinker) and it turned out to be...............

nothing at all

there is a name for it, somebody's syndrome. It means "your liver enzymes are raised and we don't know why".

I had this and it turned out to be gallstones, but I had accompanying pain as well. Have you had any pain?

Probably nothing at all, but always wise to check - mine were raised, and I had hepatitis. Now treated and gone, but thank goodness I knew before liver was damaged, so as I said, worth checking.

Hoping for nothing, tis most likely!

I am having a repeat test on Thursay and a follow up at the doc next tuesday so will see what happens - he says if it is still high then he will send me for a scan. I haven't had any pain so doubt it is gallstones although I wold fit the profile of someone likely to get gallstones!

I am a bit worried because when I was 18 I used to go out drinking about 4 nights a week - and it wasnt the odd glass of Sauvignon Blanc either!

I have the same problem - am going for a scan on the 25th after two lots of blood tests. Also have high glucose levels - no pain. I am a bit overweight but not that much and I hardly drink at all - have a 7 month old and a 3 year old -so not much boozing opportunities there - hope everything is alright you schneebly
