Constipation - how do I get lo to drink water?

Our 11 month old dd has been consipated on and off for weeks. I have tried everything, stewed apricots, prunes, prune juice, orange juice with bits.. all to no avail so ended up seeing GP and getting laxatives. Apparently you have to double fluid intake when taking laxatives otherwise they cause more constipation!!

We cannot get her to drink very much water at all and we have tried all sorts of tactics there too she just refuses and gets upset/cross/wild!

Any advice? She is clearly in a lot of pain with the constipation and I desperately want to get it sorted.

Thanks

sweeten it with cordial/juice?

Pineapple juice is supposed to be good for getting things going, as it were. What about ice lollies, made from water with a bit of fruit juice?

Have you tried putting a piece of orange in the water, then poppin git in the fridge for an hour? It makes it taste sweeter so they are more likely to drink it, the natural sugar is better then the artificial stuff. You can do this with strawberries, apples etc.

My ds had this it was really distressing and we found he liked a straw and would drink loads with one.It may help that you can get ones with little cartoon figures etc

She wont really drink anything, have tried diluted juice but she bats it away. I tried giving her the juice after I steamed some apricots but it seems she has an aversion to drinking full stop. Even resorted to water in her bottles but she's wise to that too. Good idea about the straw will try that tmw and maybe some ice lollies.

So difficult to get her to drink and am desperate!
