pin prick red rash on arms, legs and face, not really poorly

Help, ds aged 6 has 'pin prick' red rash worse on arms and legs but also a bit on face. We have all had coughs and colds over last few weeks and he still has his but he says he feels fine and seems to be ok. Have heard a few kids at school have had 'slapped cheek syndrome' but havent taken much notice when people where talking about it! My book says if it was this the rash would be worse on face but it isnt. Any ideas?

probably something "viral". I'd do the glass test just to be on the safe side - but kids often get rashes which come and go for no particular reason. If you are worried phone NHS Direct/NHS 24

thanks, yeas have just done the glass test and its fine. Wondering whether to send him to school. If it is slapped cheek it says its infectious before rash appears so i suppose its ok!!

could be scarlet fever - does he get a bit more hot and restless at night?

Sounds viral, but I would get it checked just in case.

my dd gets a rash like that on her face after she's been ill sometimes.... especially if she's had a fever. doc saw it once and wasn't pushed and she never seems bothered by it although it looks quite odd.

Thanks pink, love your phrase about the doc 'not being pushed'!
