Next set of Jabs due

My DS is due for next set of booster jabs, he is 3.6yrs. It is his MMR booster, Polio booster and Hib. Can anyone tell me why we have Polio anymore and what is the Hib one for? Are they really needed? I am not being thick or stubborn about any of these things i just wanted to know exactly what and why the last two were still given. Thanks if anyone can help me out.

When the hib baby jab was introduced it was meant to be 'for life.' It was then found out that immunity was barely lasting 2 years - so a booster was introduced.

Polio is still around in some parts of the world. It's the IPV now though which is supposedly safer than the OPV version that your baby may have got first time round (so needle rather than sugar lump).

Would recommend Richard Halvorsen's book ' the truth about vaccinations' if you want to read up on it. He's an NHS GP.

Thankyou for the reply i am really struggling deciding wether he should have them or not, i've already decided no to the MMR booster but the other 2 i'm banging my head on the wall about. I'm just not sure if they are absolutely ness.

That's the nice thing about the Halvorsen book. He gives the facts about each jab then at the end gives his opinion/recommendations about each jab.

I'm not sure how easy it is to separate them these days on the NHS. - For example 'officially' you can't get a single tetanus jab until a child is 10 and I'm not sure how easily you could separate out hib and polio.

I second jimjams. I was told that the second MMR was just incase your child was in the 5% that did not take the first time. I have read and read around HIB and what the feck is it supposed (and thats a big if) to protect agaisnt anyway.

JimJams just checked out halvorsens site and he now has a single tetnus jab.
