It's back and to the side of the injection mark, extremely hard and swollen. He won't let me touch it much so I assume it's sore/tender but he's still walking as normal so can't be that bad.

Have phoned surgery and waiting for nurse to call back, but is this a normal side-effect? Anyone experienced it? Nothing in leaflet, mentions mild localised swelling but this is huge and very hard.

how big is it? Don't panic, swelling is quite normal.

Hi there

My DD had a lump on her leg when she had MMR jab. She wouldn't let me touch it but was otherwise happy.

Hope Nurse rings back soon.

Maybe a couple of inches from end to end? Sticks out from normal leg by an inch maybe. It really shows compared to his other leg.

Meant to add. DDs lump was quite large and very hard too.

Thanks Ange. Did it take long to go down? I'm sure (I hope) I'm being daft, but it's taken me months to gear up for this and it's not mentioned under side-effects in the leafelt.

Sounds very similar to mine. It took a good few days to go down.

Hope the Nurse puts your mind at rest

mindalina · 03/07/2008 12:48

Thank you

Both practice nurses were with patients when I rang so no idea how long I'll be waiting to hear from them. Hopefully they'll call quite soon. I am reassured by how content he seems when I'm not prodding his leg

Yaeh it's normal - dd had a massive lump with her second MMR (whole arm swelled up double the size of the other one), ds also had a swollen lump but not as shocking as dd's.

It lasted for about a week IIRC.

My DS had that, red and swollen arm/lump. Took about 5 days to go down. Felt very hot and was red but he was fine.
