Advice needed to help me with bottle fed ds 7 weeks who struggles with wind from the bum end !

Ds 7 weeks really struggles to settle and most of the time it is because he is lifting up his legs, going bright red in the face and straining to push out wind or poo's.

He has had Aptimil since birth - we give it to him in Tommee Tippee anti colic bottles with Colief. We did try Dentinox to start with because he could not even bring up burps but it didn't work so a friend suggested Colief. Now he can burp OK (though this takes longer than with DD) but the other end is obviously giving him some grief.

Any advice from other bottle feeders would be appreciated. I didn't try to breast feed this time round but that is a long long story

Wind at that end can be cause by two things -

reacting to your food (eg adults eating a lot of sprouts!) - but if he's generally thriving then that wouldn't seem very likely, as you'd see other effects if that formula wasn't agreeing with him

and air that you've swallowed, usually while eating, though serious crying can sometimes do it too.

So, my suggestion is that he's not managing to get all the burps up after a feed. You could try burping him for longer to see if there's more in there, or maybe just keep him upright for a while after feeds to see if the wind comes up on its own.
