Coughing, wheezing, mucus still going on despite anti b’s / inhaler / steroids

I have been having symptoms for almost 4 weeks now. Coughing (definitely worse morning - afternoon) with mucus being brought up and daily wheezing. I have had 1 round of steroids which have done nothing. Then 2 rounds of clarithromycin for ten days total but doesn’t seem to have helped much. I have also been issued a blue inhaler which has not helped at all. I don’t have a fever but just feel miserable not being able to kick whatever this is despite anti biotics. So miserable cant seem to shake it and looking for support from this post for any similar cases. Never had any chest issues or asthma related problems. Hoping for some help or other users reporting similar issues!!! Big thanks

Hope you got a decent night's kip last night - we're just bumping this thread so that it will garner some attention this morning. Hope you get a good response - some of these viruses are absolutely vicious at the moment!

DH had similar issues, he has asthma so takes inhaler regularly. Antibiotics helped eased the chest pain but still had lingering mucus cough. In the end, he took Benilyn mucus cough syrup. It contains guaifenesin. After two days most of the cough and mucus is gone.

You need to go back to your GP. They should order a chest X-ray to check for issues like pneumonia and / or inflammation of the airways. You may need several more courses of antibiotics or different ones.
