Chalazion in right eyelid for 2 years

I have, what I think is, a chronic chalazion inside my right eye lid. It started a couple of years ago and the GP and pharmacist just said to apply a warm compress for 10 minutes a few times a day. I also purchased some of the cleaning wipes that someone on here recommended. This makes it go down a bit but not completely. It flares up again every few weeks and my entire eyelid is swollen and it also makes the underneath of my eye look puffy and swollen too. You can see a bump at a certain angle. I have taken photos.

Im getting tired of having to do this and it’s not going away. I was going to make an appointment to see a GP. I have never had an antibiotic for it. However, it appears that they probably won’t give an antibiotic. I’ve read that I need to make an appointment with an optician who can look at it using a slit lamp, and refer me to an eye clinic at the hospital. However, the thought of having it surgically removed isn’t a nice one for me so I just wondered if anyone can suggest something else I can try???

I didn’t wait this long, I went to see an eye specialist (privately) who prescribed steroid gel for two weeks. I didn’t stop at two weeks and used up the whole tub alongside warm compress (the electric one) and this eventually cleared up two chalazions that I have been. carrying for a few months. I also did the massage recommended and bought a new mascara.
Maybe the GP can prescribe steroids, I’d try that first.

Good idea. I’ll see if the GP can prescribe a steroid gel. I don’t wear mascara but I do wear eye shadow, most days, but avoid the edge as much as I can (where the eye lashes are). I really want to avoid the surgery if I can.

Are you scraping it? Aka after applying a heated eye mask are you pressing the eyelid as though to push the oil out and mechanically move the block? I used heat for way longer than 10 mins a day to get rid of mine. Took about 3 weeks maybe longer.

Yes, although I have started being a bit more firm with it so I’m hoping it’ll go.

Sometimes it takes a long time to get rid of them - I had one that took 4 months despite using a heated eye mask twice daily, Blephaclean wipes and massaging.
