Had my right eye done on Monday. Having left eye done next Monday. WOW. If you are considering this, just do it - life changing!

Isn’t it? Had mine both done together privately with new lenses. Astonishing.

I’m going to Prague in 4 weeks for this, I’m looking forward to the freedom !

I had perfect vision until I hit my mid 40s and it’s been a steep decline through reading glasses to not being able to read the massive digital display on the clock by my bed without varifocals at 3am 😩 Would this work for me?

I had cataract surgery and lens implants about8 years ago. I was about -12.5 in both eyes and had to have the lenses adjusted to read.
Now I don't need glasses for anything except driving at night and have managed that fine when I’ve forgotten them! It has been truly life changing.

If you want to ensure the lens implants will work for reading and distance I suggest you try with contac lenses first. Some people’s brains don’t seem to adjust to this as well as others.

I would second this as an optometrist. It can't be undone and I've had a few people not happy with the vision.

I had IOL with extended depth of vision, so it has fixed long and short distance vision. No more glasses for ANYTHING. Mind. Blown.

Yes, it would. Having had it done now, I would tell anyone to not hesitate, it is truly life changing.

Thanks for your reply. Having read the recommendation about contact lenses I'm a bit more wary as I haven't managed to get on very well with those (though my experience with them is very much clouded by total incompetence/squeamishness about getting them in and out! Makes me not persevere with trying to get used to them.)

What sort of price is IOL, if you don't mind me asking?

I can live with the astigmatism and need for varifocals but the inability to read in dim light that has come with age (only 47!) is really limiting. I don't think surgery can fix that?

£8549 for both eyes. You can spread the payments if you want to.

I'm pretty sure it WOULD fix that.
