Embarrassing but what is going on with my bum?

A couple of weeks ago it started getting a bit itchy and I thought it might have been using a different soap so I changed back to my usual but no change. Then a couple of days ago when I wiped there was something that looked like a long piece of dried grass. Then last night there was another one in the toilet, about 6 cm long, flat and about 5mm wide. I was convinced I had worms but googled and they are short and thin like pieces of thread.
Any ideas? I don’t have small children and I think I have pretty good hygiene, shower every day, regularly wash my hands, clean clothes, regularly wash sheets and towels, use dettol laundry sanitizer

Threadworm and tapeworm are completely different and you can't buy OTC treatment for tapeworms.

Okay but how do you know they’re not all pooing shoelaces too? They’re not likely to share that with you..

Are you not able to get worming tablets from a pharmacy?

Under cooked pork is a classic source. It is possible you got the only bit with the egg in it.
Take photo and if possible, a sample in a clean container.

It could just as easily have been a dirty surface or unwashed foods - grubby people not washing their hands is hard to protect yourself from.

I hate this trend to eat undercooked pork. This is why it is stupid to do so. It is not okay to eat it despite what trendy chefs might try to sell the idea. They like everything as fast as possible. Quick means more covers they can do. They claim it is alright for good quality pork. Absolutely nuts. I would get them to eat it first.
The reason for donkeys years people cooked pork thoroughly was precisely because of tapeworm. Talk about throw away decades of common sense.

I am thinking maybe threadworms @Todayisanewday75 Go to the pharmacy, they should be able to advise you, and they will give you something for it.

Tapeworm in pork has been eradicated in the UK for sometime, due to high standards in farming/sanitation. Theoretically it would be possible from imported pork.

Could be threadworms too.

When did eating undercooked pork become a trend? I always thought that raw pork was an absolute no no. If no one else is ill, tell yourself it wasn't the pork - you can't give up crackling.

It is fairly common now in food magazines, on cookery shows you will find some loon extolling the wonders of eating pink pork. They say tapeworm no longer exists. That good quality pork is fine.
And when they serve it up on shows you notice people taking the tiniest piece to eat. The chef themselves don’t eat any of it.
Chefs like it because it is quicker to cook. Quick means more covers.
For decades, centuries people have been told to cook pork thoroughly. For a good reason. And tapeworm is it.

Do you have pets? My cat threw up a tapeworm a couple of years ago

The description sounds nothing like threadworms though.
