Blood in semen after hospital stay and antibiotics, anyone experienced this?

My husband had been in hospital for a long time with sepsis and bowel problems. Thankfully he is home now and on antibiotics and is generally feeling better.

We were finally able to have sex last night, but worryingly his sperm was a pinkish colour and had specks of blood in it.

We are hoping its because he hasn't been able to have sex for a while and also because of the amount of medication he is on. Google said it could be a whole range of things due to him being so unwell.

He is of course going to the doctors tomorrow but I wanted to know if anyone has experienced anything similar? If so I'm hoping it wasn't bad news, as its safe to say I'm panicking slightly. Thank you for any advice!

Could be he has a UTI, OP. I'm male and that was a symptom when I had a UTI a few years ago. In fact it happened a couple of times and I found it quite alarming, but the right antibiotics sorted it out quite quickly. I know you say he's on antibiotics at the moment, but there are very particular types they prescribe for UTIs. His prostate gland might be inflamed, given he's had issues with his bowel. That's another possibility. Anyway, the GP will know how to proceed. Keep us posted.

I would contact the GP asap given his history to rule out a UTI.
