Blood test result-abnormal but to be expected

My mum is 77 years old and has always suffered from bouts of extreme anxiety and is going though a real crisis at the moment . She had some blood tests done recently for b12 and thyroid. We called to get the results and they were normal. They explained in future we could access through the nhs app. I set this up for my mum and she asked me to look at her results for her. I realised that she had results from a blood test last year. She asked me to take a look at them but I’m worried that some of her results were marked abnormal but to be expected.I haven’t told her as I know it will cause a huge spike in her anxiety.
The processing in the lab may have been over 8 hours. If so, potassium result may be slightly elevated above the true result. She was never asked to repeat but I’m so worried that her kidney function is abnormal.

With all the usual caveats about online medical advice…Wouldn’t be worried about those. Bloods need to be interpreted in the context of a person’s medical history/ medications/ current indication for the test - there’s more to it than just looking at the normal range.

Thanks so much for replying. So I don’t need to worry that they haven’t been repeated? Her dad died of kidney failure so this would cause be a massive panic if I told her right now but don’t want to neglect something.

Unless I’m misreading, it looks like any readings that are outside the normal are only very just outside the normal. My GP once said that it was statistically abnormal to be in the normal range for everything just because of the way human bodies work

Yes it only slightly below but 59 suggests stage G3a. I’m worried that it should have been investigated as her GP surgery can be a bit rubbish.

Did she have any symptoms? A result that’s slightly out of range and where there are no symptoms probably wouldn’t register for most people reviewing as it can be impacted by lots of things (medication, dehydration etc)

No symptoms. But potassium is high too…

Her potassium is again only just out of range and could again be caused by something like dehydration. My last blood tests were all over the place because I hadn’t drunk enough water before the test. If you’re worried and she’s showing symptoms, you can ask them to repeat them but I wouldn’t be worried based on these results at all.

Yes, it was exactly those markers plus one or two others from memory. All down to dehydration (which was clearly the case as it was very hard for them to get the blood out of me). My kidney function is absolutely fine. I just need to drink more water…
