Small health changes that genuinely helped you feel better

I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to overlook the simple things when it comes to looking after our health. Drinking more water, getting a bit more movement in, improving sleep, eating a little better, or simply making time to switch off can sometimes make more of a difference than we realise.

I’m curious what’s actually worked for other people, rather than the usual “perfect lifestyle” advice. What’s one small change you made that helped you feel healthier or better in yourself?

Taking Floradix every single day. Tastes disgusting, but it has helped with my persistent tiredness.
I used to feel bone-tired, plus my ferritin levels were low. It can't believe the difference it made within about two or three weeks of taking it.

Which brand if you don’t mind me asking?

I’ve avoided collagen because it’s not a complete protein and it can’t possibly be directed to the parts you want it to go to. However, a work colleague says it’s done wonders for her hair and skin, and I’m losing hair by the handfuls so I’m going to give it 3 months to see if it helps. She was suggested to buy, and is using, Willpowders bovine collagen peptides powder.

I have recently massively improved my sleep by listening to cheesy regency romantic novels on Audible when I’m in bed. I’ve always had terrible trouble sleeping (I was lucky if I got 4-5 hours a night) and now I just pop in one AirPod and I’m out like a light, and I’m getting a good 7-8 hours a night. It can’t be anything exciting or murdery or I’ll stay awake, but a sub-Bridgerton style bodice ripper does the trick nicely. I was talking to a friend who does something similar with a bedtime app, and she thinks it’s because there’s just enough interference from the story to stop our brains whirring. It won’t work for everyone but if you feel your brain always has 42 tabs open at the same time this might just help.

When i wake in the night and my mind is whirring I take control of it by thinking of girls names from A to B. Sometimes I have to do it a couple of times if it’s a bad night, but it works for me.

@Ruthietuthie you can buy Floradix as tablets so you then don’t have to worry about the taste

@Corneliafunk, I had no idea! THANK YOU. This would be SO helpful.
