Last night DD2 got a bead stuck up her nose We took her to a local hospital as we were unable to dislodge it, hospital couldn't either. She was sent home and told we had to take her to the 'big' hospital this morning, appointment was made. DH has been there since 8.30am the bead is still in the nose, does not want to budge.

DH just phoned to say she is on way to theatre for a 'mild' general. Are they likely to keep her in afterwards?

Thanks notjustmom, I'm feeling really guilty that I let DH take her and I'm at home with DD1. Hoping she will be home later.

If she is just having a general then they should let her come home the same day ime. Last time Ds2 was in alder hey to have a plate removed from his leg we managed to escape the same day.

This is as long as she is able to drink and eat and keep it down afterwards.

How old is she?

MrsOnTheMove · 28/06/2008 13:08

She is 3.4 DH just called again to say she has just gone in, said it was awful she was crying for mummy

It is horrid when they go in. You have probably missed the worst bit, which is actually going in to the anaesthetic room with them (I have done that with DS several times, from the age of 10 months up, as has DH).

She will be fine and probably won't remember the upset.

MrsOnTheMove · 28/06/2008 13:17

Thank you for making me feel a bit better. DH said they may let her home tonight if she hasn't been sick etc. (fingers crossed)

virtual hug! Been there, ds was discharged after 5 hours following minor eye op & was fine by next morning. She will be ok, probably better than you!

NormaStanleyFletcher · 28/06/2008 19:43

How is she now?

MrsOnTheMove · 28/06/2008 22:03

Thank you for holding my hand. I took DD1 out of the house this afternoon as I was worrying too much! DD2 came home an hour ago, is very well being her usual self as though nothing happened.

I think DH and I have a few more grey hairs than yesterday

I'm hoping that the black eye (she fell down steps two weeks ago!!), the viral infection last week and now the bead means that we are done for a while
