Hi, i have had some sort of virus for a week now, started with sore throat and then a terrible headache, it has knocked me for six and I very rarely get these sort of things,I feel so blocked up with catarrah, coughing alot and completly exhausted, it is so annoying as I have so much I need to be getting on with, do you think it will last much longer?

yes I've had it.

Nearly 4 weeks and I am still feeling exhausted.

Rest, take plenty of fluids.

My dd (12) is coughing her guts up on the sofa as we speak. Poor poppet she's as white as a sheet with zero energy even to stand up. Did it really take you that long to get over it?

I have this right now! am not sure whether I am pleased to hear that other people are sharing my grimness or sorry that you are all suffering too.

Mine seems to have gone on for about a month and I am constantly knackered - pg too which doesn't help - and last week DS came down with it as well so we've had no sleep at all.

gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - wouldn't it be nice if you could just go to one of those convalescent homes in 1930s novels?

I've had it twice in the past 3 months had it about 3 weeks first time round but it knocked me for six and left me feeling really drained for weeks after, then I got it again and it lasted about 2 weeks.

I had a couple of doses of antibiotics to try and shift the catarrah as I'm asthmatic so wasn't good. I also had some blood tests in between the two just to check everything was ok. Some of my levels were low but after the second dose of antibiotics the results were repeated and I felt better.

You could try Vitamin B complex tablets as well as Vitamin C as it helps fatigue but after a week and no improvement I would go to the doctor (if you haven't already).

Like hana said you'll need time, rest and fluid as well as decent food (i was eating crap which didn't help as I didn't have energy to cook!)

Yep. Absolutely knackered, could sleep for Britain. Also lost my voice
