Abnormal thyroid results

I have felt very odd for some time, mainly itching, neck pain, still achy body and very coarse hair.

i visited the drs and have received my blood result the other day. I have thyroid problem. And they have marked me as urgent but I’ve just seen my endocrine appointment is not till 16th November - that doesn’t seem very urgent to me or is this the wait??

my results were…

• Serum TSH: <0.01 mIU/L
• Serum free T4: 36.5 pmol/L
• Serum free T3: 17.3 pmol/L
• CRP: 13 mg/L
• ESR: 40 mm/hr
ferritin 266

i have been given a beta blocker but have only used it never, but tonight I’ve woken up and my pulse rate is quite high, should I take one now? And does anyone have any similar stories to mine they could share?

thank you!! Sorry if any typos

I was just writing another ranty email, and he has literally just phoned saying he’s spoke to a cardiologist at guys and they can give me the carbimazole!!

thank fuck for that - the thought of leaving you to have a thyroid storm is mind boggling

I can't wait to feel normal again and to have a decent nights sleep without the itching, the anti-histamines aren't hitting it. I did give the Carbimazole a Google and saw about the side effects :-) - I have had an FBC and liver tests done, and will keep an eye out. I have to say, having felt so crap the last few weeks or so, I'm a bit peeved that I haven't lost a single pound in weight!

Oh @TodaysJessicaFletcher SNAP! Just got my second set of blood tests back and they are very similar. The weird thing for me is that they did test for TPO not the Graves ones and that has come back high.

I have my gp appointment on Friday so gratified to here gps can prescribe. It’s the dizzy spells and the tinnitus which is getting to me

TodaysJessicaFletcher · 27/08/2026 08:35

Well don’t leave like me without getting it!

ive been meaning to also mention I had such course hair and I tried every shampoo expensive and cheap, the one that mostly helped me was Monday for dry and dull hair (in the pink bottles) and five pumps of elvive miracle oil.

If anyone else has any tips, food, lifestyle or whatever I’d definitely like to hear them!!

Urgh - gp is ignoring the anti bodies now (our surgery cannot test for the Graves antibodies, has to be the endocrinologist only apparently).

she’s also decided it’s probably viral thyrodiitis and I have to have yet more blood tests. And my heart rate is not high enough for me to be feeling ill so I’m fine to wait despite me telling her about the dizziness/lightheadedness/weight loss etc etc. am not happy.
