Does this sound like gallbladder pain or should I ask for more tests?

I'm in pain! I have had pain on and off in the Gallbladder area since 2022. 4 Ultrasounds show Gallbladder Polyps (largest 6.7mm and they are not growing) but no stones and the last scan showed Fatty Liver. Since 01 July I have had a terrible stomach ache more or less constantly. Went GP and he ordered stool tests for infection and bowel cancer, blood tests for Ovarian cancer, LFTs, kidney tests, iron levels, diabetes, thyroid and inflammation - all came back normal. As I was still in pain I went back to GP, saw a different one and he said it is most likely biliary colic and pain in stomach is referred pain from gallbladder.
I was supposed to have been referred to General Surgery way back in Jan but I think the GP forgot. I was then referred to Gastroenterology in Feb but they say I wont get an appt until December and then it will be a phone call. This GP then referred me to General Surgery.
I have been told no alcohol and every meal must be under 3% fat - have been following this since last Sunday. I have Ibuprofen and Buscopan.
I have put in a complaint to GP surgery re missed referrals. Hopefully they will write to hospital to try to get me seen sooner.
The thing I am really worried about is what if this isn't due to the gallbladder and I wait patiently in pain until December for them to say "oh you've got a big tumour - if we'd have seen that sooner we could have done something" or something equally horrible.
Does anyone know if this does sound like gallbladder issues? Are there any other tests the GP should be doing. I did think I haven't had H. Pylori test so might ask for that.
I did need to lose weight and the only silver lining in all of this is that no booze and sticking to 3% fat or under is doing wonders for that. I wasn't losing weight before this - I know that is a red flag - it's just that all I seem to be eating at the moment is salad, fruit and veg.
If anyone has any advice I'd be very grateful

Sorry to hear about this. Can you describe the pain?

CrowsInMyGarden · 16/08/2026 22:04

@Fullofthejoysofspring The stomach pain is a cramping, just above my belly button. The pain in the gallbladder is a dull ache, getting more often and more sharper as time goes on.
