Is it worth getting blood tests for discharge and possible urine leakage?

For the past while I've been getting a dampness in my pants. I figured I was just getting to "that age" (mid 40s) and started wearing a pantyliner. I was never sure though if it was urine or discharge. Or a bit of both.

I started googling (I know!) and got it into my head that it could be related to undiagnosed diabetes or similar. Or maybe perimenopause. I don't have a huge array of other symptoms but once or twice I've been to the loo in mums and she's commented that there's a strong odour. I don't have a sense of smell so I've no idea if this is happening often, what it even smells like.
I rang the Dr this AM and ask if I could get bloods done to rule out diabetes and to check my hormones. Now that I've made the call I'm wondering if I'm overreacting. It's probably just discharge which is fairly normal.

Is it worth going to get bloods done or am I wasting their time?

Blood test isn't the first line indicator for diabetes (I think).

Could be lots of other things, best get checked out, but don't insist on just a blood test for diabetes

Yes, good idea to speak to the doctor. Mention the urine odour and leakage, you may well have a UTI.

Just explain your symptoms to the gp. It could be loads of things - an undiagnosed uti, vaginal atrophy, an sti. It’s the gps job to diagnose and select the appropriate tests.

As per PP, very appropriate to discuss with GP and they will order most appropriate first line tests. If you share your concern re diabetes then I’m sure they’d check for that, though sounds unlikely to be the cause.
