Anyone else had a virus with tiredness and headaches for weeks?

Hey 👋 has anyone had a weird virus that lasted for weeks recently? Had it for ages on/off headaches, tired, slight nausea, aches in body.

I have a lot less energy and can't do much. Started to feel better yesterday but after an early start today travelling I've taken a few steps back again.

I feel anxious now too 😟 Anyone else out there the same?

Thanks xxx 😊

I had this, and had bloods done and was very low on vitamin D, had to take high does for 7 weeks. Perhaps get bloods done.

@OneGiddyBalonz I might have what you're describing. As far as I can tell it started over a week ago now with very achey legs (particularly the backs of my knees) and acute lower right flank pain temporarily, with occasional waves of nausea (but not throwing up). Then I was getting tired and headachey some days, but feeling more myself again other days. Then a couple of days ago the flank pain reappeared briefly but this time on the left, was still getting pain and stiffness in my legs, and generally feeling very fed up. I've got some nasal congestion, a bit of a cough, and a respiratory thing which made me really anxious for a few hours yesterday. Today hasn't been as anxiety provoking but I feel like I need to remember to breathe. I'm slowed down at times, and other times I'm getting stuff done but need lots of rest. Sleeping in the afternoons. And my stomach isn't right. I suspect Covid, but don't have tests anymore.

How are you doing since you posted?

Thanks for replying 😊

I hope you feel some ways better today, sounds awful x

I'm up and down, operating at 50% sometimes ok, doing few chores other times as you said "remembering to breathe". Very conscious of how I'm feeling and I guess it's just health anxiety because of the length of time this is going on. I usually shift colds and stuff after a week or two.

I have problems in my shoulder which was resolved by chiropractor sessions, however it has flared up and is worse pain I've had from it which is making everything worse I think!

My local chemists gave me a pack of covid tests, I took one and it was negative. It does feel like covid though in some ways 😔

Thanks, that's a possibility I'm going to get bloods done when I'm home from holiday x

Yes and then it turned out to be shingles.

smallglassbottle · 11/08/2026 15:06

I've had an achy legs thing with sinusitis, headache, glands up and temperatures. It's gradually gone away.

Did you have a rash too? Hope you better 😊

Not recently but something very similar about twenty years ago.

It lasted about a month and then gradually went away - still don't know what it was.

Looking back I feel I should have been more worried about it at the time - but I felt so exhausted I didn't have the energy!

ScaryM0nster · 11/08/2026 19:11

Any chance it’s Lymes disease?

That's good it's cleared, some weird bugs about for sure!

I was thinking that but can't recall a tick bite or rash from a bite. My dog does get ticks but I check him over and they die when burrowed in from the treatment he has. Still a possibility I guess!

Your dog gets ticks.
I’m guessing you walk your dog.
I’m going to guess you’ve worn shorts or skirts for those walks, not long trousers tucked into socks.
I’m going to guess you don’t meticulously check yourself for ticks.
You’ve got symptoms that are consistent with Lymes disease.

GP visit might be a good idea.

Needanothernap · 12/08/2026 11:48

If it’s been going on for weeks, I’d see the GP. How far into it did you take the covid test (I have long covid, but some people do recover).

Whatbloodysummer · 12/08/2026 11:57

I'm still recovering from this kind of viral illness now, and have been signed off sick for 6 weeks because of it.

Exhaustion, periodic temperatures, aching everywhere, sinuses all painful and clogged up with gung, but no runny nose etc like you get with a cold etc?

After nearly 3 weeks of it, it moved into my ears and I had 3 weeks of bloody labyrinthitis too.

Just starting a phased return to work this week, but I'm struggling with it.

My DH and DD both got it too, but it seems to go from one of us to another, then go round again!

Londonmummy66 · 12/08/2026 12:04

@Whatbloodysummer - sorry its going on so long - I'm like that at the moment - no head aches but occular migraines and quite a bit of numbness in one hand to add to the aches and stiffness. What did the dr say?

The rash took a while to appear, it was then the real pain started. It seems to be starting to settle thank you.

GP said the virus was the cause and should eventually resolve, but due to the fact I've got left sided partial facial numbness (with a rash) they've done bloods for B12 & Folic Acid levels to be on the safe side, but they think the virus has irritated the nerves in my neck/face?

They also said to phone an ambulance if numbness spread or if my face started to droop on that side 😳Let's hope that doesn't happen.

The occular migraines sound horrendous, poor you. Maybe your numbness is due to an irritation in the nerves too?

What did your Dr say?

Londonmummy66 · 12/08/2026 12:39

You poor thing. I'm still trying to get an appointment....

I've had ocular (and regular) migraines for 2 weeks now.. So exhausted as well. I've been written off sick for a month - I did see a neurologist who thinks it's "just" a migraine and that I need to rest.

It would be good if it was a virus going round I think - I'd feel better anyway!

It cleared up thankfully took another couple days in bed but it's gone. I'm gonna keep a closer eye on ticks as I didn't think about that (just worried about dog!) Yes had shorts on in the hot weather so could easily climb onto leg.
