Numb lips, symptoms of what?

Do I need to be worried about my symptoms? I woke up this morning with tingly numb lips and then over the day my fingers on my left hand are tingling (like I've been laid on my arm funny but I haven't), my cheeks and nose feel numb and have vomited this evening.

In full disclosure, I drank quite a lot of wine last night and was sick this morning which I put down to a hangover but I've never woke with numb lips nor vomited in the evening (I'm usually sick once in a morning and my hangover is cured).

Googled symptoms but nothing really fits.

Can't figure out how to edit this but I also feel a bit dizzy on my feet, moving round the house is a bit like my head is swimming.

Which set?

Perhaps you’re sensitive to sulphites in the wine, was it a new one you’d not had before?

It was wines I hadn't had before but I drink a lot of wine so I don't think it's that 😬

How old are you? You can react to the histamines in alcohol, lots of posts on here mentions it happens around the same time you wonder if you are approaching middle age. If I drink a lot of beer now I get puffy red eyes and lips the next day, like when I have very bad hayfever. Just seems to be another of those joys of getting older...

LittleSoo · 26/07/2026 20:13

Oh really? 😕 I'm 38 so I suppose I am approaching middle age. If I'm still numb tomorrow I'm going to call the drs for a blood test to see if I'm deficit in anything and I'll not drink for a few weeks either.

If you're still worried and still have some symptoms now, I'd give 111 a call just to ease your mind.

daisychain01 · 26/07/2026 20:16

You have a drink problem if the being sick happens multiple times after drinking too much.

please seek medical advice this is not normal.

How is your eyesight? I get similar numbness and tingling before the onset of a migraine.

Odot · 26/07/2026 20:18

Could be low B6 or B12. I think you need a GP appointment.

Exactly this!

Tip of my nose is first to go numb then fingers too. Migraine comes a few hours later or even up to 12 hours later sometimes. Eyesight goes like it’s looking through an cracked mirror. Am also sick sometimes. Are you dehydrated post alcohol as this triggers mine. I’m also sick with it. But do ring 111 if worried please.

Dunkerquetodover · 26/07/2026 20:21

Low calcium, low magnesium. There are a few electrolyte disturbances that can cause tingling. Or a reaction to the wine

RedRiverShore6 · 26/07/2026 20:22

Maybe a migraine, I get those symptoms a bit with migraines. I am also sick with migraines and the headache isn't that bad.

LittleSoo · 26/07/2026 20:26

So many replies, thank you! I've never had a migraine in my life, I do think the B12 deficiency could be a good theory cos a couple of women in my wider family have that.
My eyesight is fine, I don't wear glasses and it hasn't been affected today but I can feel my left eyebrow feels weird where the numbness has gone up my face.
Yes, I'm aware I probably have a drink problem 😬 but I don't think that has caused this numbness today.

I was going to say a B12 deficiency, might be worth getting it checked.

LittleSoo · 26/07/2026 20:27

I do eat a well rounded diet (not veggie or vegan) but I'll get a blood test done and see what comes back :)

At my old stressful job... an oncoming Migraine, high blood pressure and low blood sugar all gave me the tingly lips, dizzy, floaty feeling from time to time.
