Anyone else had problems after switching from Fostair to Luforbec?

My GP has changed my asthma inhaler - Fostair to Luforbec, (email said it was money saving and will work the same).
I’ve tried it 3 times now (I usually do 2 puffs am and 2 pm) and each time I can’t hold it down it really irritates my throat/ chest and I start coughing and feel wheezy, luckily I still have some of my old inhaler left.
I’ve sent a message to my surgery for Monday but has anyone else experienced the same? Thanks

I've only recently been prescribed Fostair but wondering if using a spacer might help?

I have tried several inhalers and they are not equal in their ability to open the airways etc. Even the same ingredients but different brand can have different effects, remember the Ventolin versus salbutamol fiasco for some people where they ended up in hospital?

Insist on going back to your original prescription. You've tried it and it doesn't work.

Yes, these are not for use with spacers and I guess are money saving. But i felt exactly the same with irritated throat after each use. I’d message and ask to change back, which is what I’ll be doing (when I remember..)

I had exactly the same issue. The asthma nurse was resolute in it being exactly the same drug, but better for the environment?

Eventually managed to convince my GP to change it back to Fostair; she did concede that sometimes people are sensitive enough that switching to a different “brand” of the same drug can cause side effects that haven’t previously been experienced.

Just an update - I sent a message to the GP with my side effects and they have changed me back to Fostair!

Interestingly in my practise everyone was being switched to Luforbec & have all been switched back due to the volume of side effects reported

Very common. Fostair is great as it has finer particles. We’ve had loads swapping back. Practice nurse.

I was first started on luforbec and had the same issue, it instantly made me cough which seemed like the opposite of what we wanted it to do, so they swapped me to fostair. Most recently they have changed me to fostair nexthaler because it’s more environmentally friendly. No issues with this change.

Strange I just googled and came across this thread, DD started new luforbec tonight and coughed after taking it. She was previously on fostair.

I am not very good at putting a good point across but will try with GP.

Luforbec instantly made me cough. I don't think I actually consumed (?) any of the medicine!
My nurse said it's very common and moved me to Fostair. It's so much better!

It is a money saving exercise. I was transferred onto Luforbec from Fostair last year. It was literally like inhaling a trigger! Couldn’t stop coughing. Tried a second time to check.
I just rang the surgery and explained and she was honest and said loads of people were the same. It actually says now on my prescription and labels not to switch.

Are you not meant to use luforbec with a spacer? DD did maybe that's where she went wrong.

@Sunshineandrainbowah, I have just googled and seemingly I have been given the really old style one with the what sounds like pellets inside that you inhale directly, without a spacer. The one here is actually for use with a spacer, my mistake.
