Rash on 2 year old DS face and arms -hot to touch

Hi, My 2 yo DS woke with a red face and slightly blotchy arms this morning, which has gradually got worse during the day. It doesnt seem to be bothering him in any way,but it is incredibly hot totouch. He doesnt seem to have a fever - forehead is not hot - just very hot on the rash. Any idea what this might be? I wondered about slapped cheek virus, but can't find a mention of the rash being hot to touch??
thanks

Slapped cheek is hot to the touch

Does the rash look lacey (as if he has got sunburnt through a piece of lace?)

If it is slapped cheek, he is now through the worst of it, he would have been contagious a few days ago. If your ds has been around any women in first 20 weeks of pg, get them to ring their dr.

thanks nell, i wouldnt say lacey - it seems to have got a bit more joined up during the course of the day. i think it must be slapped cheek, cos he only has it on exposed parts, i.e. cheeks and arms, and apparently that it one of the symptoms- just hadnt seen anything about it being hot

We have an epedemic of it at my school at the mo, every other child we see has lovely rosy cheeks! Apart from that they are all fine, so try not to worry.

do you know if it is worth taking him to the gp? is there any point, or if its a virus does it just run its course??

Of course it is worth it, if it will put your mind at rest!
