Just gave ds (just 2) tixylix for his cough and ive given him double dose by mistake! It says 1-2 2.5ml 3-5 5ml. I read it wrong thinking it meant UP to aged 2 is 2.5ml them once 2 5ml.

What do i do? He's in bed and seems fine, just chatting and going to sleep... help!

what does it say on the box? my dd managed to get the lid off some vitamin medicine when she was about two drank half the bottle was sick and was absolutley fine! (i had brought the bottle in to give her some but forget to get a spoon so left the bottle and went for a spoon)

if you are worried give nhs direct a ring but im sure with that amount it will be nothing to worry about!

I think he'll be absolutely fine. If you can suddenly give him a double dose the moment he turns 3, having it when he's 2 and a bit is not going to kill him.

I wouldn't bother ringing NHS direct personally.

If you think of the weight variation of children even when they are the same age, you realise that they must build in a substantial error margin. I'm sure one extra dose won't hurt.

This is why DH (big chap) insists on taking 3 paracetamol because he says that how can it be right that he should take the same as a 12 year old girl. I am .

I hope your DS is fine.

I think body weoght is something to do with it. Is he big fo his age?

Madlentileater · 25/06/2008 20:26

It's not just body weight, it's also to do with things like the maturity of the liver....BUT, was personally told by my GP that there is a HUGE margin of error. Don't worry.
