DD can’t stop sniffing and it’s driving me up the wall!!

DD has had nose issues for a while. She’s highly allergic to dust, but the GP gave her prescription antihistamines and a nasal spray and the didn’t work 🤷‍♀️

Usyally it’s just a lot of itching her nose like it’s irritating but over the past few days it’s excessive sniffing. I know it’s annoying her but it makes me feel muderous!!!

She goes mad if I mention going back to the GP (she’s 24 so it’s lot like she’s a child and I can take her). We’re away but when we get back I’ll have to try and persuade her to go back to the doctor as there’s something not right there (and it’s driving me to distraction).

im thinking it could be silent reflux she’ll completely shut that down (I have it myself and it can affect the nasal passages plus I’ve heard her cough after eating some foods - she likes all the wrong foods!).

Anyone had a similar nose issue and got to the bottom of it?

Post nasal drip?
That is what caused my niece to sniff

Yes, but that can have many causes. Do you know what caused the drip? It can be allergies, reflux, problem w the nose itself….

Which nasal sprays has she tried? Nasonex used to stop my continually runny nose and sneezing. I was switched to a generic mometasone furoate spray years ago and that’s working too.

Antihistamines never did a thing for me.

Please try a gadget for washing out your nose with salt water. This has helped me a lot.

I’ve suggested this - I’ve used one a few times - but she said no a while ago!

Not sure, maybe Flixonase?

Could it be nasal polyps? They made me miserable for a decade. Permanent post nasal drip and always sounded like I was ill. They can be triggered in response to allergies / immune disorders so perhaps worth looking into? I got mine surgically removed in the end and it was a game changer.

I think there is lots of good advice about your DD's nasal issues, however, you should also look into misophonia if her sniffing makes you feel murderous, as you may have that...

Try Pirinase, a nasal steroid spray, completely fixes my rhinitis
