Hi,
DD (10mo) and I have been at home from creche/work for 3 weeks now with various illnesses, her latest being a vomiting bug that started a week ago. The doctor said on Sat that it is caused by a virus she had the week before, prescribed stomach settling stuff to stop her chucking, and said she should be better by today or so.
I am worrying now though as I am supposed to go back to work tomorrow, but I am not yet sure dd is well enough again for creche. She has not been throwing up a lot but it happens about every 2 days, every time we think she is over it. Also she is quite anaemic due to fighting lots of bugs over the last month, but the doctor said to wait with giving her iron supplements until her stomach is better. So she is still quite weak as she can't keep the iron down, and the last 2 days has been sleeping a LOT (only awake for 1 hour at a time), crying for food in the meantime, not herself at all, and last night brought all her food back up again, 48 hrs after the previous vomit we were hoping she was over it! The only thing that stays down all the time is breastmilk. Tbh she seems to be getting more grouchy and unhappy rather than better.
Not sure what my question is really - does this sound normal for an anaemic baby? Should I just expect it to take longer for her to recover, or is it better to take her back to the doctor? Does anyone just have any words of experience and wisdom? (I'm sure you all do!). Must say am feeling a bit at the end of my tether as we have all been sick and she has not been her poor little self for ages, and work is stresful enough as it is without being away for 3 weeks and the only parent there in the team. Please help if you can...
