Alendronic acid and hip / back pain.

Is anyone else on alendronic acid? I’ve been taking it for 7 weeks have developed pain in my left lower back/ hip / bum. I didn’t take it last week as there was a delay getting my prescription and it was actually much better and over the weekend I had no pain at all.

I’ve taken it this morning and the pain is back. Worse when I walk and does tend to ease as the day goes on.

I just wondered if anyone else has experienced it or it’s just coincidence.

Go back to your GP. I had a reaction to alendronic acid and my GP changed it to risedronate which was ok. My reaction was pain but not in the area you describe

I've been taking it for years and never had any sort of reaction to it. Although they do say that it can cause problems for the esophagus, I've never heard of it affecting the hips. It may just be coincidental. Nevertheless, I'd get back to your GP.

I have for a year but not associated it with pain as such.

I took it for three years but it damaged my stomach. I now have zolendronic acid infusions.
I never had hip or bone pain with the alendronic but I get three weeks of severe pain in the thigh bones after an infusion.
