Help! I need your best hayfever remedies

Given I’m almost suffocating in tissues thanks to my continuous runny nose, please give me your best hayfever tips and treatments?

Over the years I have tried Loratadine, Cetirizine, Fexofenadine and Acrivastine (this was the most effective but have taken 5 tablets today instead of the recommended 1 and I’m still drowning in tissues). Also previously had the Kenalog injection which helped a bit, but think I’ve missed the boat for that this year. I’ve tried various nasal sprays, Vaseline on the nose trick and those hayfever wipes, and already avoid drying my clothes outside and having the windows open too much.

Someone please tell me I’ve missed a very obvious but very effective remedy?

What dose of Fexofenidine have you tried? You can get a 180 prescription. Beconase is magic for me plus a steam mug with olbas oil. I need allergy eye drops too.

Hycosan allergy eye drops
Momethasone nasal spray
Fexofenadine 180x4 daily. (as directed by my GP).

My eyes are still pretty fucked and I have hives everywhere, but the nasal phelghm stuff is so much better.

Am discussing montelukast with GP.

I’m in hayfever hell too. I take Benadryl which I think is Acrivastine. For the last few days I’ve had the max dose of three tablets and I still feel terrible - sinus pressure, cotton wool head, uncontrollable sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes. Pretty sure they are making me drowsy too - fell asleep at 6pm today!

I’m planning on trying to speak to the GP tomorrow as it’s making me feel really quite unwell now.

Have you tried an online consultation with the Boots Dr? They prescribed some magic drops for my eyes… Optilast.

Eyes are my worst symptom. They had a range of medications they could prescribe.

Another shout out for Beconase spray, it's practically cured my hay-fever, when I used to be miserable for weeks. Try also changing your clothes and showering when you come home and wiping your sunglasses to remove any pollen that might be hanging around

Prescribed fexofenedine.........none of the over the counter meds worked but these do!

fexofenedine (180mg) , montelukast 10 mg. Acrivastine 3 times a day, dymista nasal spray, n90 mask on days when grass pollen is very high, allergy eye drops, sunglasses, Vaseline on nose - and I still am suffering - it aggravates my asthma as well. Now have been referred to allergy clinic at guys who have confirmed grass pollen allergy and have suggested immune therapy with a view to start this autumn.

Have you tried a neti pot ? Neilmed sinus rinse is a modern easy-to-use version. I use it when coming I’m from outside.

Quercetin 500mg 2 x day. This is all I use and hay-fever doesn't bother me at all now. You could also use vitamin c and strong nettle tea eg 2 bags steeped 10-15 minutes, try twice day but not in the evening

Fexofenedine 180 and Dymista nasal spray daily
Montelukast when needed

NeilMed sinus rinse, wash face, hair and clothes to physically remove pollen

Benadryl will send you off to lala land very effectively.

Please don't overdo it. It slows down your heart rhythm.

There are alternatives that you should investigate.

Montelukast is extremely effective.
