Could this spreading rash be a reaction after ciprofloxacin?

2yo was on a 3 day course of ciprofloxacin for salmonella. Yesterday he had a few red blotches but it seems to be spreading today. Its all over his bum and lower back too. The antibiotics finished Saturday so not sure if it could be them.

it might be a reaction to the medication or the illness. I sometimes get hives over my whole body after a bad cold, which apparently is an allergic reaction to the illness. Do you think it could be hives? If so, try an antihistamine. If it gets bad, you’ll need to take him to the doctor for steroids.

Hmm, I doubt salmonella could cause a rash? I'll pop to the shop and find some antihistamines for him, good thinking!

I mean it could be an allergic reaction to the salmonella (or the medication). Incidentally, you should probably let your GP know. If it is an allergic reaction to the drug, that needs to put on his records so be doesn’t get prescribed that again.

It's unlikely but worth having it checked as cipro is associated with Steven Johnson syndrome which starts as a rash.

Probably just a big standard rash but always worth double checking.

Are the spots painful?

I'm taking him to the gp in the morning so I'll ask about that.
Feeling very stressed with it all, all the kids have been ill with salmonella includimg my newborn who spent a week in hospital with it. Can't think straight and worrying about everything now. 😕

A few more have popped up on his arms and legs. He's absolutly fine in himself though, giggling away.
