Hi, I took my daughter to the doctors on Friday, she is 10 years old. She has unexplained bruises on her legs, she is having alot of nosebleeds, her gums bleed and she is tired. She has slept nearly all weekend. The doctor took blood test and said I would find out the results maybe this week. Just abit worried now as to what he is testing for. Anyone been in the same situation as me and could tell me more please? Thanks

Usually blood tests can trace just about anything in the system, from serious illnesses to mild aneamia. You should call our GP and ask what tests they were running - could be the whole gamut or could be just for one or two things.

Hang in there - it sounds like they're doing the best they can to help find out what might be the problem.

They would range from clotting tests to a full blood count which will check everything. It is standard practice for them to do a large amount of blood tests. They tend to check for everything to rule things out.

Think when symptoms are pretty vague like tiredness which could mean any number of things they do a full blood count. Tiredness could mean she's anaemic?

How is she now? how heavy was the bleeding?
