Scarlet Fever - Argh

My 4yr old DD has just had her third bout of sore throat in a month (1st on was on the day DD2 was born, next was tonsilitis two weeks ago and now she has the tongue, rash and every other listed symptom for Scarlet fever). Off to Drs shortly and they will just give 10 days of anti-biotic. Am worried about her getting ill so often - or is this just one cycle? Help - does anyone have a magic powers - we have just come out of three years of ear infections with her (resulting in grommit operation)and thought we had nailed it as she has pretty much been well for three months. her little system seems to have no resistance to anything, can't bear to think we have to go back for tonsils.

Also is DD2 at risk or is she protected by my breast milk?

My eldest had scarlet fever when my DS was bout a month old and it wasnt passed on. When I took my eldest to the DRs they saw I had a baby and never said I should keep them apart (i didnt even think to ask . But its prob best to ask your DR to be sure.
Sounds like you DD has had a rough time lately- hope shes feeling better soon.

My 4yo DS sounds like your DD. One thing after another. He had scarletina in April but DS2 didn't catch it - neither did anyone at pre-school.

I tried multivitamins all winter, though his diet is good. I don't think they worked - he had croup 4 times and then scarletina... I guess he's just prone to ear/nose/throat infections. Luckily DS2 isn't.

Chin up. Good luck.

Thanks for support, no magic spell I've been missing then. Anti-biotics have worked a treat, but she is still so tired and under par. Oh well.
