Breast lump with pain and dimpling while waiting for breast clinic

Looking for similar experiences and a bit of a hand hold please. I have recently found a lump in my breast which is causing some pain. The GP has checked it and said it's about 2cm by 2cm and mobile. She has also said there is some dimpling. She has said she thinks the symptoms are in keeping with a cyst but has red flagged me for breast clinic. The wait for this is 12 weeks. The wait for private is approx the same!

However I have contacted somewhere with a consultant radiographer (previously worked in a breast clinic) and they are going to do an ultrasound in the next few days. I am 38 and have been on hrt for the last year. The dose of hrt increased about 2 months ago and this is roughly when pain started and lump waa found.

I am hoping the ultrasound will be able to say it is most likely a cyst. I know I'll not get full confirmation until I attend the breast clinic. I am just a bit scared and would appreciate any support or talking to someone in a similar situation.

I've been on the 2ww and sent to the breast clinic three times and they've been able to tell with only an ultrasound that all my lumps are fine, so you may well get a decent all clear just from that. Fingers crossed for you x

Where are you based ? 12 weeks is a very long time . I’ve been to the breast clinic 3 times due to painful lumps which thankfully were cysts
Im in London , does the 2 wk pathway exist any more it’s very worrying

That's good to know, thank you. I am in Northern Ireland. I was shocked by wait times. It's a very long time when it should be a 2ww. 3 months essentially! X

Just updating in case someone else comes across this post in a similar situation. I had the ultrasound and I have been told it is just active breast tissue as a direct result of the hrt.

Thanks for supportive messages.
