Should I be worried my son just licked paint off this elephant's head?

To be clear, it's a wooden elephant from India, and I know they don't use the most kid-friendly paints most of the time. He was wandering around with it in his mouth and when I got it out I saw a streak of paint on his cheek and a fair bit gone off the elephants head. Am now paranoid he's going to get lead poisoning, or go bonkers or something. Am I being OTT?! Please tell me it won't kill him...

I think a single incident, with a small amount of paint, is not going to cause serious harm. The problem, as I understand it, is in either a large dose in one go, or long term exposure in cot paint, nursery walls etc. So take it off him, and don't worry too much.

Thanks for the reply...that makes me feel slightly better. I'm a bit cross with myself anyway, I've been meaning to take the bloody thing off him for ages because he's really rough with it and is going to end up breakign it, one way or the other. It has inspired me to hide it for the next 5 years.
