Does this sound like a hernia? (groin pain)

Has anyone had a hernia in their groin? I've got this horrible sensation in my left groin area, as soon as I move it feels wrong and painful, like sort of pressure. I can't walk properly either. I can't feel a really obvious lump but the left side is more lumpy than the right. How do I go about getting it looked at? What scans do I need? The gp never seem to refer for scans these days. Bit worried about potential complications and strangulated hernia etc.

You need to see your GP & they will advise the best course of action. My husband had one & it was a dangerous kind & it was operated on the nhs within about 2 weeks.

Thanks, I had an appointment this morning but she said she couldn't feel a hernia and said it's likely muscle spasm or tightness. She sent me for a hip xray in case it's radiating from there. It's strange because there's no obvious lump but I get this sort of popping sensation when I move in certain ways.
