5 month old desperate to stand up on one leg only...

DD (nearly 5 months) has been trying to stand up all the time for the last 3 or so weeks, but for the last couple of days has not wanted to put any weight on her left leg. In spite of this she still keeps wanting to stand up, and gets upset if I don't want to help her do this 24-7... and doesn't seem distressed or in pain. I can't see a swelling or any difference between the 2 legs or feet(but difficult to tell).

Has anyone else had this with their LO, and what did you do? Worried that she might have twisted leg or hurt foot.
Thanks!

Griselda

Has she fallen? My niece pulled herself up on sofa, fell onto bum with feet underneath, she fractured her foot! She cried initially but then was fine, just wouldnt bear weight.
My ds screamed like mad when he stubbed toe, settled then wouldnt bear weight, he'd fractured it!
However, she may just be comfy and testing to see how often you'll help her - very normal behaviour!

Thank you; I did the old "wait and see" trick, and pushed her around in the pram all Saturday afternoon, and it seems much better, so fingers crossed it was just one of those things...

Is she a flamingo? - I'm only kidding.

Seriously has she had her hips checked since she was born? It's a very quick and simple check at the GPs to rule out hip dysplasia.

she did have the hips check, and they were fine...but she's not even attempting to roll yet as well, unlike, it seems, all of her contemporaries, so I think I'll get her checked out to be on the safe side...
