I need one that will explain all about it, and give me diet tips on how to control it.

It is getting to the stage now where I am not enjoying anything that I eat because I never know wether it will agree with me or not, and at the moment there isn't many foods that don't set it off.

I've had IBS for years and have probably read about 20 books on the subject. The one that worked best for me is called The Good Gut Guide. Think the author is Gudrun Johnsson. It's one of the few books I read that really seemed to get IBS. So many of the others had crazy recommendations like increasing fibre and eating loads of fruit and veg, which for me (and for most IBS sufferers I reckon) is a complete disaster. As well as diet, I found taking a high strength probiotic twice a day helped too (I took Biocare Lactobacillus, which is expensive but really makes a difference).

Glad to hear that you found something that worked.

Is it \likn{http://www.amazon.co.uk/Good-Gut-Guide-Ulcerative-Diverticulitis/dp/0007138059/ref=sr_1_1?ie=U TF8&s=books&qid=1214158418&sr=8-1\this}one ??

I searched the author you mentioned, but that came up with nothing. The one I linked to was the only one with the name Good gut guide.

Hi there, don't know how you feel about such things, but a friend of mine who suffered from IBS responded very well to hypnosis. She went feeling v.skeptical, but apparently it worked. Her partner, who is an anaethsatist (sorry about terrible spelling), also went, for the same thing, and also responded very well. Might be worth checking out.

Thanks jennifer, I think it may well be something I end up at least considering, if I can't find anything else that works.
