How long to wait for a patellar tendon repair?

DH severed his patellar tendon 16 days ago. My understanding is that the optimum repair time is within 14 days. He did the same thing on his other knee 8 years ago.

He's still not been given a date for the operation and I'm getting worried now. Should he be complaining?

He says he can't influence the date of the operation and he has been warned that the hospital is busy but I'm concerned that an otherwise healthy 46yo will have a buggered up knee for the rest of his life. He's very active- plays hockey and skis.

Is it Fully ruptured? If it’s fully ruptured then he should be immobilised and he should have the surgery as quickly as possible.

If the tear is only 50% it is less important as the tendon is still attached enough that it doesn’t need an immediate surgery. In theory.

Has he been given a date?

It literally says he hasn't been given a date in the OP.

It is fully ruptured. He's in a leg brace which he's allowed a 30 degree bend in. He puts a fully straight one on for bed.

So back to my question- should DH be complaining now when at best it's going to be 17 days post injury for the operation?
