He is very ill, and spent most of the day sleeping. They have made him as comfortable as they can, and I did get to have a about 15 minutes chatting with him and the kids this afternoon.

But it is clear that he is getting iller by the hour.

I realise that it is almost impossible to predict these things but his consultant thinks that he probably has around a week or so to live, less if he continues to get worse as he has over the last few days.

I know that MN is amazingly supportive, and I don't know where I would be without your kind words of support. If you feel that you want to 'do' anything can I ask that you contribute a few bob to your local hospice or the Macmillan Cancer relief charity? Dh and I are 'sorted' financially, and we would both like to think that he was remembered by people all over the UK helping people in their local communities.

We are hoping to get his MBE presented in the hospice (thanks to the wonderful work of MI, her mate in the FCO and the RAF.....a rare combination of disparate souls )

Much love and thanks

Hope your dh is as comfortable as possible.

I hope the 'combination of disparate souls' can make that MBE hospice presentation happen. With a mumsnetter amongst them, I have every hope they will

I will donate something and hopefully soem time after the school holidays when DS is at school in the mornings - I have to say MB you and your husband are so - I don't know - just together people - you write on here with such clarity and warmth at a time that must be excrutiating for you - maybe we can have a mumsnet walk or some such activity to raise money for MacMillan and other cancer charities?

TimeForMe · 20/06/2008 07:00

I am so sorry MB I am thinking of you, sending much love and strength.

We as a family have just donated to our local hospice. Not only did OJ's thread raise our awareness but we also have DP's gran terminally ill with cancer and receiveing wonderful treatment. They are amazing places. xx

Thinking of you all, and very much hoping that the MBE presentation can happen. x

PollyLogos · 20/06/2008 07:34

I am very sad to hear that Mr MB has worsened so quickly. I can only wish you all much love and strength in the days ahead.

When i am back in the UK in August I will definitely make a donation to the Macmillan nurses, who were very supportive to my mum and dad when my mum had cancer.

Thinking of you all. xxx

aDad · 20/06/2008 07:42

I'm so sorry to hear this.
Our local Hospice Charity shop always gets my charity bags. I always just seemed to gravitate towards it for some reason . . . (now I know why). I'll bag up some more stuff to take over. And as ever have a shopping spree whilst I'm in there.
