Any medical professionals? Advice on DH severe scald please

DH poured a pan of boiling water over his hand on Thursday evening. He’s refused to get it looked at, I’ve been dressing it with inadine. This is how it looks now. He says minor injuries tomorrow, I say A&E but it will be a battle to get him there.

Warning, photos aren’t pleasant. Three photos, three different areas of scald. Brown staining is inadine.

And yes he should have gone when he did it but…

Not a medic. Yes he should have gone when it happened. Looks bloody sore! Biggest risk is for infection. I'd call 111 for advice.

I once ‘slept’ (barely) with my hand in a bag of ice and popping Zapain all night because any time my hand wasn’t in the ice it was excruciating agony. You still couldn’t drag me to spend several hours in A& E for a dressing, so I’m team DH.

There are only a couple of spots where the skin is broken, and there isn’t any oozing or signs of infection. I mean, it’s not pretty but, as long as he’s well in himself, no temperature or anything, I’d wait until minor injuries tbh.

He needs to be seen asap

A&E now. When I did my first aid training i remember the tutor saying any burn or scald hand sized or larger should have medical attention.

I have told him this. I am also first aid trained. Actually getting him there is something else 😂

He’s agreed to me posting this thread as I’ve told him it’s not just me.

I’m a doctor with burns experience. The photos don’t suggest too serious a problem however it would be sensible to have a review and some proper dressing care to speed healing . Essentially he needs a review in a burns clinic . Have a look and see if the hospital has a plastic surgery department if there is a choice of several. Minor injuries not ED at this point.

Thank you, I really appreciate this. I’ll show it to him.

I haven’t opened the photos and not medical, but have a relative treated for a serious scald
as it covered the whole hand A&E NHS Wales and this American Burn Association says whole hand but for your current case includes if you do home treatment and pain persists

At this time on a Sunday night I understand his reluctance but it does need a review asap. NHS111 might be worth a try see if you can drop lucky with a WIC or MIU close by
