Sorry to hear this. Sounds like you've been having a rough time lately.

I have high cholesterol - it was 7.1 - and I am a vegetarian who doesn't eat any dairy food so I thought cholesterol would be the one test I could pass ! 5.2 doesn't seem that high really - but it all depends on the ratio of 'good' to 'bad' cholesterol. I now take statins that have got my cholesterol down to 3.8 in just over a month.

DKMA · 19/06/2008 20:34

Hi Trace

Did the GP tell you what your LDL (bad cholesterol) was?
A total cholesterol level of 5.2 isn't too bad overall though.
Try not to worry - if changing your diet doesn't lower it then the drugs (statins) are very good and are very well tolerated.

Do you need more tests to figure out whats happening re kidney issue?

trace2 · 20/06/2008 08:35

hi no hes not yet told me they made mean app but carnt get in till 1st july! but they have said they are doing more tests for my kidneys, i dont think 5 2 is high but i think the two problems together may make it worse than it seems. i dont eat much meat or have any cheese or i think it may be the xweet tooth i have as been told this could make it worse
