Itchy eyelids, armpits, genitals… help

Hoping someone can give some suggestions. For weeks I’ve been suffering with itching. Started with my anus. It’s progressed to itchy genitalia - perineum, labia, inner upper thighs, armpits, and now my eyelids too 😭

I’ve got some very dry patches of skin here and there. Not sure if all related or possibly more than one thing going on.

Have tried: worming treatments, Germaloids, Canesten, vagisil, Actigel, moisturisers.

Daytimes are generally ok, but evening the itching starts again and once I scratch then the itching gets worse and I cannot stop until I’m burning and sore.

HELP… any ideas?

Not changed anything I use in the shower at all. We’ve changed laundry detergent but only to a Persil non bio from Fairy. Plus it’s only really those areas affected, not anywhere else, and wouldn’t explain the eyes. I’ll make an appointment at the GUM clinic for tomorrow just in case it could be crabs 😭😭😭 I have zero chance of getting a GP appt round here any time soon and keep thinking it will go away but clearly it’s not.

Yeast infection!! Try the pill you get for thrush as thrush isn't just vaginally.

Think crabs is a bit out there unless... 🤷🏼‍♀️.

That distribution pattern sounds like my eczema. That was misdiagnosed as fungal at first but it was plain old Eczema. Specialist told me that women who grow out of it as children oftern find it comes back with (peri) menopausal hormone changes.

See the GP. Prescription steroid cream (dermovate)fixed it very quickly where all non-prescription creams including 1% hydrocortisone failed. Also use emollient for washing not soap/shower gel.

All of my family are allergic to persil. I dont know what is in it but it causes terrible soreness and itching. So don't discount washing powder as a possible culprit.

Booooooooom · 16/04/2026 06:17

We are also all allergic to Persil non bio and not Fairy

I’m late 30’s. Could be peri possibly, I suppose, but feels like it’s come on very suddenly and intensely rather than a gradual build. Will try changing washing powder just to be sure. And will try the 8am GP scramble today… wish me luck.

Re wash everything several times to remove the Persil.

This is definitely a gp app for blood tests. It could can be your liver struggling, mine was related to my gallbladder being rammed with stones and I thought I had heart burn . It could also be peri and evening itching is a part of that too. Are you waking up in the night? Between 1-3am? Try taking an anti histamine an hour before bed, I take phergan otc 3-4 nights a week and it helps with the itching and Sleep.

Good job you came here OP. Dr Mumsnet has diagnosed you with crabs, scabies, bacterial infection, viral infection, fungal infection, chlorine sensitivity, menopause and washing detergent sensitivity. So pleased you can now get it sorted! What would you have done without us?! 🤣🤣

Seriously though, I hope you find answers at the GUM clinic, if not, badger your GP until you get an appointment. Good luck 🤞🏻

This has really made me laugh!

Well, my local doctors’ surgery has implemented a new appointment system and I was pleasantly surprised. I have been to the GP, she has had a look, given me some cream with steroid in it to apply, something to wash with, and instructions to come back in two weeks if not resolved. Oh and taken some swabs to test for thrush and chlamydia. Not sure how that would have reached my eye and my armpit but hey ho!
