On Monday I had a small surgery under regional anaesthetic to remove a tumour that was on a nerve and tendon sheath on a finger.
The lump was taken off the nerve and a small bit of the tendon sheath was taken to excise the lump completely.
The nerve block anaesthetic wore off by lunchtime yesterday and it’s been so uncomfortable since. The finger is numb but painful at the same time, it’s a deep ache where the anaesthetic was injected plus a shooting, burning, prickly, itchy pain down into my palm.
The surgeon did say that the nerve would go on strike for a few days and I’d get some discomfort but how long will this realistically last? It doesn’t respond to any painkillers and it’s already driving me a bit potty. It was the smallest cut - only an inch between the palm and first knuckle but by god it’s sore!
