Could this be haemorrhoids and what can help until tomorrow?

Last week, while I was a few hours at the hairdressers getting my hair done, I felt a pain in my bum. It was a short sharp pain but it was fine.

It's been back all day today. It's on and off pain. It comes and goes. Doe you think this is hammoroids. I don't think I am constipated.

I was so sore today.

However I was stuck in work all day today and I wasn't able to treat it or get to a pharmacy. I am home now. All I have is nappy ointment. Do you think will that help me and I will be able to get to a pharmacy tomorrow.

If it is just a sharp shooting pain I think everyone gets that from time to time. Mine was rife in pregnancy. If it continues book a GP appointment tomorrow and phone in sick. Your health comes first.

I've only ever had them after being constipated. They're worse after you've 'been' to the loo and ease slightly between going (in my experience).

Take some paracetamol and try and relax.

I went to the loo earlier today but then the pain continued on and off all day. I was able to take tow solpadine in work but no treatment or cream at all, all day.

I am still getting some pains. I was able to use some cream on my bottom after work.

I managed to apply some nappy ointment cream at about 9pm.

My bum is very sore now. I am sitting. I think I just need to go to bed.

I won't be able to take a sick day tomorrow unfortunately.

Is solpadol codeine-based? Check the side effects as some painkillers cause constipation

I'm mindful not to take too much or solpadol. It is codeine based. I'm mindful not to take too much solpadine. I don't think I am constipated.

Haemorrhoids are usually itchy (for me anyway)!

BabyWally · 01/04/2026 19:33

Thanks for the replies.

I presume it's haemorrhoids. I was wiping earlier and I felt a bulb type of thing while wiping. I didn't investigate enough.

I slept well last night. I slept on my sides and I did have some pains during the night but nothing too tremendous.

I didn't need medicines today and I didn't get time to use nappy ointment either but I will use some before bedtime tonight.

You need to investigate it more, take a picture to see what colour it is to see if it's thrombosed

Besidemyselfwithworry · 01/04/2026 19:40

You need to get a doctors appointment to have this checked out really. Prioritise your health OP and get sorted out.

Exactly, itchy around the opening rather than a shooting pain inside. That sounds more like what MN calls javelin arse and happens with periods.

Namechangeforthe · 01/04/2026 20:01

Haemorrhoids can be painful as well as itchy especially if thrombosed. Ice pack and bed rest and see GP tomorrow

OMG, OP, I have had the same recently. Worse in fact as it's bled which got me panicking. Got some suppositories and creams, helped a bit but it bled again and they referred me to a clinic for more tests.

What made me panic was different opinions of what it is, someone mentioned tying it off, internet says it's a medical emergency but I am still on creams with very little result 🤔

Please update when u can.

Javelin arse? Period related? What is this?

proctalgia fugax

Bessica · 01/04/2026 22:17

Get some Buscopan tablets they honestly help.

I get this on the first day of my period. Have to sit down really slowly as I get shooting pains in my backside all day with any swift movements.
I also have haemorrhoids but it’s more a soreness.
either way, get it checked for best course of action

Blood in the stool might be cause for concern, blood on the external skin isn't imo.
