Maybe Mother's Instinct isn't always right, maybe I'm jeopardising my children's health? Worried.

I never took dd or ds2 to the GP to have their reflux diagnosed, I dealt with it myself. Similarly I never took them to the GP when it became apparent that they could not tolerate regular milk, just dealt with it myself. Dd seemed to outgrow the problem. My LOs seem to be generally healthy, intelligent children, developing fine. Now I learn that dd and ds2 probably have milk-protein intolerance, and that it could be the source of all the problems that are cropping up for dd.

I don't generally go to the GP unless I don't know what to do about a health issue, or I'm worried about the LOs' health, and I wasn't - then. I wonder now whether I've been arrogant and over-confident. Whether, had I gone to the GP years ago, dd wouldn't be in the situation she's now in. I feel deeply guilty and anxious in case I'm missing something else.

PC, I know nothing about food intolerances but would imagine that whatever intolerance your dd has she would have had anyway...and if yo'uve been able to deal with her problems until now, and have now gone to GP/other because your way isn't working any more, that makes total sense.

What I do know about is our ability to blame ourselves for our LOs problems, whether appropriate or not!

FWIW, I haven't agreed with or gone to GP with all sorts of things over the years either, and sometimes we just have to go by our instincts..thats why we have them, no?

If you don't mind me asking, what situation is your dd in now that you think you/she could hvae avoided?
