Help! I am 54 & my eyesight went blurred literally over night. Ended up in eye casualty who advised eyes eere healthy & then A&E as convinced it was a stroke or brain tumour. CT scan was cleat. So next visit to optician who advised i neecec to wear glasses every day for distznce, reading & computer screens. I have gone from wearing no glasses to juggling 3. I hate wearing them & feel I have lost my identity. I look like an old lady. But worse is the feeling i am seeing yhe world divferently. Everything is so magnified I can see every spec of dust which has led to ocd spending hours cleaning. I dont recognise myself when lookimg in the mirror i can see evey pore & my skon looks lime orange peel. It has affectec my mental healtb so badly tbat i dont want to leave the house or work in the office. Researched contact lenses but overwhelmed with thr thought of putting something in your eyes. Any advise appreciated

@jetlag92 It was happy mamoth reducing cortisol that I took. Have tried the contact lenses - managed to get them in but they feel uncomfortable and can only tolerate them in for an hour. I am anxious about my eyes getting dry and not being able to get them out but continue to hate the glasses even more

That sounds incredibly unsettling, especially when it has happened so suddenly and is affecting how you feel about yourself and day-to-day life.
I’d go back to the optician and explain the magnification, the three different pairs and how hard you are finding the adjustment. They may be able to check whether the prescription, lens design or the way the glasses sit is contributing, and talk through whether there is a simpler option.
Because it is making you avoid work and leaving the house, I’d also speak to your GP. You have had reassuring checks, but you should not have to manage the anxiety and compulsive cleaning on your own.

I still remember looking in the mirror at my face with glasses and seeing the wrinkles!!

You need varifocals, swapping 3 pairs of glasses is ridiculous.

You need to get over yourself with looking like an old lady, glasses are such a fashion accessory now, even the youngsters where clear ones. It sounds like yours don't suit you though, they should flatter your face.

Varifocals are expensive - but so are 3 pairs of glasses, don't be tempted to go for the cheapest. I recommend Boots opticians and you can keep going back if they're not quite right. I tried spec savers vari focals and could barely see out of them but the Boots ones were fantastic and could wear them immediately.

I now always have to wear them when I'm doing the dusting or I miss great piles of dust 😂

I remember have sudden blurry vision when I started a statin but it settled down. Sounds like the cortisol detox thing might be the same.
