follow on from a few days ago: he (20 months) now has it... My Mum thinks I haven't had it. So now quite paranoid.. as might be pg, (due to test next week), does anyone know if it's risky? contacted GP (I'm in Holland) and they are a bit overly relaxed here and said there was nothing they could do...

In the Uk they do a blood test to see if you have immunity, if you don't have immunity then they give you an injection to protect you .

If you catch it beofre 20 weeks or have it when you are in labour it can cause problems; but not sure how serious.

There is info on NHS website and netdoctor etc.

I would get the pregnancy test done ASAP (some of them are really sensitive and can give you a result at about 10DPO) and then see your GP about testing your immunity. I'd do this even if you've had it before as some people aren't immune and can get it more than once anyway

Good Luck.

I would go to your GP now. I had the same thing happen in my second pregnancy - spent all day playing with my nephew, who then went down with chicken pox, and I was sure I had never had it.

The GP tested my immunity, confirmed I had never had it, and sent me straight to hospital to pick up immunoglobulin which was then injected back at the GP's.

I don't want to worry you even more, but I was told it could cause defects like deafness in an unborn baby.

I didn't get chicken pox then, I caught it off that baby years later.

Hope all goes well for you.
