Mapping of moles (not garden moles!)

Has anyone had their moles mapped? If so, how much did it cost (or did you have it done on the NHS?) and how did you find out where to go?

Thanks ❤️

I’m hoping to have some areas (not exactly moles but lumps and bumps) removed, GP has said it’s safe but the practitioner isn’t able to do it without written proof so offers mole mapping through an external dermatologist. I paid £50 for one area and have received a thorough report stating what it is and that it’s safe to go ahead.

That's interesting. So mole mapping to classify your skin bumps?

I have mine done regularly. It's private, NHS will only track individual moles, I have hundreds and can't keep track!

It costs £180 a time (I think the first visit is more expensive). They take loads of photos in specific positions and they're loaded into a program which compares it to the last set of pictures. I get a letter a few weeks later saying all good, come back in 12m. They also take close ups of any odder individual ones.

It's run by the head of my local hospital's dermatology team. I'd just google 'mole mapping near me' and find somewhere.

It is a service for the 'worried well', not a necessity but it saves me trying to keep track of my moles myself, especially those on my back.

@Chewbecca - so you pay but its done at your local NHS hospital? Or you pay and its done at your local Nuffield or private hospital?

No, it's not in a hospital, just a local clinic. Nothing to do with the NHS, except the fact that the Dr's 'other job'.

Yes but it’s called ‘map my mole’ or something very similar so I assume they do all sorts.
