I was wondering if anyone knew protocol of how quickly GP will get in touch with you if something sinister comes back on a scan result? I got a text from GP to arrange a review appointment but it isn’t for over a week away - even though my scan results have come back to GP. Would appointment be quicker if scan had found something like cancer?

Most likely you’d be brought in sooner than that. But maybe it depends on your surgery and how busy they are - if they can’t fit you in before then, they can’t fit you in before then. However, I have had family that have been brought in for bad news following a scan, and it’s usually very quick. Are your doctors usually good?

Thanks for relying. The surgery is usually quite responsive although I haven’t had much to do with them so far! The waiting in between tests and appointments is painful!

It’s horrible waiting. I’ve been there loads. What was it for, maybe I could offer more reassurance x

Can you view it on the NHS app?

Can you ask for a copy of the results? It's your personal data after all.

My mother recently received a copy letter and report noting she had a meningioma and had been suffering from silent strokes. I thought that was a bit rich bearing in mind she is 89 and quite frail and that the news should have been delivered at an apppointment. However, when she had the appointment, she had done her research and could ask the right questions.

Unfortunately I live in Edinburgh and we don’t have the same app as down south!
