Anyone's immune system gone into overdrive during pregnancy or at other times?

Not sure if this should be in allergies, pregnancy or health - it fits all!

I have a very active immune system - when I get an insect bite, the lump will be huge and itchy on me and last for weeks and no amount of anti-histamine will help. The plus side of this is that I am almost never sick with coughs or colds.

After I had my last baby, I got some insect bites (possibly from green ants) and ended up with a patchy, hot, red, violently itchy rash up and down my arms. GP was mystified. Dermatologist said "infected excema caused by severe urticaria". He said that pregnancy and birth hormones had probably exacerbated my reaction to the original bites. He gave me Dermol wash and antibiotic cream which did absolutely nothing to help. A friend, trained in homeopathy, took my case and suggested Pulsatilla. This cleared it up in a matter of days.

I'm pregnant again and think I've been bitten by green ants again. Hot rash is back, have lumps all over my arms and legs. Pulsatilla is not helping this time. Can go and ask my friend to suggest something else, but am wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar to this and if so, what did you do to relieve the symptoms?

Has anyone had maybe acupuncture to calm the immune system? Something else?

Thanks!
