Hi all,

I know questions regarding this surgery are quite common on this forum. I have my surgery scheduled for Monday, so I thought I’d start this thread to document and share my experience. I’m nervous, but hopefully it is not that bad. I will keep you all updated. Feel free to ask any questions!

Hiya, this is interesting as I have a skin tag there which is from when I had piles years ago I think. I went through a phase of wanting it removed and then decided it wasn’t that big a deal. Will follow with interest!

So I initially was discouraged from getting the surgery a few years back and I agreed. Unfortunately, though, they just end up getting bigger over time so I re-referred and they agreed to refer me for surgery this time round. I’ll keep you updated on the surgery, recovery, and outcome and hopefully it helps you make an informed decision 👍

@roastednuts123 Hello! So I had my surgery today and all went well (no complications). I woke up from the GA at about 17:00 and I’m a bit sore now but it’s not horrendous. I assume it’ll get a little worse as the GA continues to wear off. I’ve not been given any pain meds since coming round, so if it does get worse I’ll just take some paracetamol & ibuprofen. I can’t bring myself to take a look at the area yet, but I doubt it looks pretty! 😆

When/if you go for your appointment, make sure you ask lots of questions about recovery and how to keep the area clean, because I assumed I would be given advice and I was not told a thing! I have absolutely no idea what I should be doing. Ordinary cleaning? Salt baths? Your guess is as good as mine 😆

If you have any questions, fire away! Otherwise, I’ll keep you updated as my recovery continues!

I can't add anything useful on skin tag removal, but I am sharing this as an option you might find useful post-surgery. At a tenner, it is easily my best purchase of the last 12 months.

Hiya,

was this through the NHS?
